It is a really simple setup and allows you to get right into your game, straight from the box.

All you need to do is to plug in the USB receiver into your PC or console (PS4/Xbox) and turn on the power button on your headset. The Plantronics RIG 800HD wireless headset is very easy to set up as everything is very much just plug and play.

Frequency response rate is decent and the weight is light enough for most players.

Comes with incredible battery life (up to 24 hours with one full charge) and 10 meters of wireless connection range, it is ideal for hardcore grinders alike. I guess I will go to bestbuy and exchange it and test the replacement to determine if it was a keeper or not.Plantronics RIG 800HD is formidable in regards to specifications. I'm not sure how I could change the wifi channel on this headset or even read which channel it uses, but there would be impossible to force me use only 2.4ghz wifi just because of this headset. During this hour, there were actually a few annoyances (playing titanfall2), that the volume automatically increased to max (I can feel all of sudden it got much louder), and then both the volume rockers (the game/chat equalzier and the total volume control) lost control of the volume, no matter how much I turned them, the volume seemed to be fixed at a very high level, not changing with the turning.

Moved on to xbox one, did the remove and resync my controller for a few times, but still getting I think once or twice "headset connected/not connected" verbal notification and maybe once skipped audio (not total loss but like it paused and all of sudden resumed") in game playing and sling tv watching, maybe an hour total time. installed dolby app on win10 and tested it out for a short period of time, not getting disconnection (but it was short). I hooked up this with PC and installed platronics hub, well it was not on the supported device list, so that did nothing. I searched online quite a bit and did all that was mentioned as possible remedy. My setup is up to date with no other available updates. Or was there supposed to be some other settings? With the voice notification "headset is/is not connected" and frequently skipping, even total loss of sound, it was no fun at all. Was it because of the interference or I got a bad one? My wireless game controller works fine though. unfortunately, that has to be the location. Headset has medium battery but keeps connect/disconnecting during the game, and I was sitting fairly close to the console, but on the other hand the xbox is sitting next to my router too. Hooked it up via usb and set up the dolby thingy. OK guys, this is my first console (xb1x) and first gaming headset. I want the "true wirelss, no dongle" part though. I hope I did not just jumped to another sinkhole after climbing up, coz it was the constant disconnection that bugged me most.Īccording to the pricing, at least I can have Steelseries Arctic 5 and the new Hyperx cloud flight and logitech G933 to pick. I wasn't too sure about my pick coz the mixed reviews I've seen, and many early adopters were complaining about the "disconnection" which seemed to get better with rounds of Firmware updates. I got the Turtle Beach Stealth 700 mentioned here. I wasn't able to get an even exchange to try out another RIG800 coz of the availability, but instead, I got to pick pretty much any $149 msrp headset as exchange.

Update: I hope I made the right choice, guys.
